Hacker-Turned-Informant 'Sabu' Wins Leniency, Is Spared More Prison Time

NEW YORK — A computer hacker who helped the government disrupt hundreds of cyberattacks on Congress, NASA and other sensitive targets and cripple the hacktivist crew known as Anonymous got a hero's welcome Tuesday at his sentencing in federal court, where prosecutors hugged him after he was spared more prison time.
U.S. District Chief Judge Loretta A. Preska credited Hector Xavier Monsegur's "extraordinary cooperation" before saying he won't serve more than the seven months he spent in prison two years ago. Federal sentencing guidelines had called for more than 20 years in prison.
"It was truly extraordinary," she said of his cooperation, noting he worked around-the-clock for months, disrupting or preventing at least 300 computer hacks over the last three years. "We don't often hear of this."

Hector Xavier Monsegur, also known as Sabu, arrives at court in New York for a sentencing hearing Tuesday.

She also marveled that Monsegur, also known by his online alias Sabu, showed "extreme care" for a young cousin for whom he served as a guardian even as Monsegur was subjected to personal threats so severe that the FBI relocated Monsegur and some family members.
Afterward, a relieved Monsegur hugged prosecutors who had urged leniency.
"I'm not the same person as four years ago," said Monsegur, 30, of Manhattan, who was arrested in June 2011 and pleaded guilty two months later.
Prosecutors said he helped disrupt or prevent hacks against divisions of the U.S. government including the armed forces, Congress, courts and NASA; international intergovernmental organizations; and several private companies, including a television network, a security firm, a video game maker and an electronics conglomerate.
In one instance, Monsegur saved the government substantial time and resources by quickly establishing that a claim by Anonymous that it had hacked the U.S. electrical grid was a hoax, prosecutors said.
According to court papers, Monsegur first began hacking in 1999, breaking into thousands of computers over the next four years before trying to grow a legitimate computer security firm from 2004 to 2006.

In 2006, he began to hack into computers for personal gain, stealing credit card information, prosecutors said.
In a 2011 interview with the online magazine New Scientist, Monsegur said he joined forces with Anonymous because he was upset over the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
Using the alias Sabu, Monsegur led an Anonymous splinter group called Lulz Security, or LulzSec, which hacked the computer systems of Fox television, Nintendo, PayPal and other businesses, stole private information and bragged about its exploits online.
After his arrest, Monsegur immediately cooperated, giving the FBI a tutorial on the inner workings and participants of LulzSec and Anonymous, prosecutors said.
Now, attorney Philip Weinstein said his client seeks work and would not rule out a government job. "He's taught the government things they don't know," he said.

Health law: Embrace, avoid or in between for Dems

It's no surprise that Republicans are dusting off their playbook, even after many GOP lawmakers have acknowledged that the law is here to stay.
"We will repeal and replace Obamacare," said McConnell, who defeated a primary challenger last Tuesday. McConnell repeatedly cast Grimes as a stand-in for Obama.

Republicans have gone after Sens. Mark Begich of Alaska, Kay Hagan of North Carolina, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and Mark Pryor of Arkansas for being "the deciding vote for Obamacare." Ads hit those states after the disastrous early rollout of online insurance exchanges that allow people to shop for private policies.

Police commissioner resigns in wake of Obama slur

Wolfeboro Police Commissioner Robert Copeland listens Thursday May 15, 2014 in Wolfeboro, N.H. as town residents ask for his resignation after being overheard calling President Barack Obama the N-word at a restaurant.

At a meeting last week, Copeland defiantly sat with his arms folded as more than 100 residents pushed for his ouster and tore into his comments, saying he didn't speak the town or its people.
Copeland admitted using the slur, preceded by an obscenity, while he was at a restaurant in March. A resident, Jane O'Toole, overheard him and complained to town officials when she learned that Copeland was a police commissioner.
"I believe I did use the 'N' word in reference to the current occupant of the Whitehouse," Copeland wrote in the April email sent to the two other commissioners and forwarded to O'Toole. "For this, I do not apologize — he meets and exceeds my criteria for such."
That defiance did not sit well with many in the town
"I thought it was disgusting, and the way he justified it, it was even more disgusting," said Ernie Bauer, a 64-year-old carpenter. "It was disgusting 50 years ago."
A handful of people at the meeting spoke on behalf of Copeland, saying he had a right to free speech. But the louder message came from those who wanted him out.

Out of all the other things i can think of calling him , the "N" word doesn't sound that bad.

Interrupting an NWO meeting.

Fox Panel Clashes Over Karl Rove’s Remarks On Hillary’s Health: ‘You’re Generating Sympathy For Her!’
A “Fox News Sunday” panel split over whether Karl Rove’s recent remark that Hillary Clinton may have “brain damage” went over the line, with Fox contributor Brit Hume calling it “legitimate” while fellow contributors Kirsten Powers and Juan Williams denounced it as a “personal attack.”
Rove himself appeared on the panel, playing defense over a remark that was condemned by those on both sides of the aisle in the past week. Powers claimed “her faculties were being questioned, which really, I think, is unfair to question that . . . I haven’t seen anything to suggest that there’s something wrong with her brain.”
Hume disagreed, noting we should have more information on the Democratic Party’s all-but-coronated candidate for 2016, who suffered a major fall and concussion in 2012.
“If someone has a terrible concussion and undergoes six months of treatment, and there’s a blood clot near the brain, the whole thing needs to be laid out and explained,” he declared. “She may be just fine, but it is a legitimate issue to raise about her.”
Williams and Rove went head-to-head on the issue, with Williams calling it a “harsh attack.”
“It was a personal attack,” Williams accused. “The GOP at this moment is apoplectic over Hillary Clinton . . . You guys are going crazy! And this now, not only are you beating her. You’re beating her about the head and generating sympathy for her!”
“Let’s be clear,” Rove responded. “She’s gonna have to cough up these medical records and describe this. This was a serious — look, the Center for Disease Control says ‘a concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury.’”

Apparently all of our politicians have some "brain damage." They seem to have damage in the portions of the brain that control honesty, integrity and judgment. And apparently all of our politicians have failed the course in economics 101. They continue to tax and spend and borrow, with no regard for the future, and no responsibility, and they continue to give away money all over the world, while denying Americans help---our own people; our seniors, disabled and disadvantaged. They give away hundreds of billions to corrupt foreign government officials who are almost as corrupt as our own politicians............. And stupid voters keep electing and reelecting the same old two gangs---Democrooks and Republicrooks---who have ruined our economy and continue to loot the wealth of our nation for their cronies.

North Korea’s State Owned News: “Obama is a monkey”

“Divine punishment to the world’s one and only delinquent Obama”, published in Korean on May 2nd, came just in time with Obama’s state visit to South Korea. The article is composed of essays penned by four different people, despite the style being indistinguishable. If it wasn’t labeled a government publication, it’d pass as satire:
“You can also tell this by his appearance and behavior, and while it may be because he is a crossbreed, one cannot help thinking the more one sees him that he has escaped from a monkey’s body,” it stated.

The written diatribe lists Obama as a monkey four times, as well as calling him a “clown”, “dirty fellow” and somebody who “does not even have the basic appearance of a human being”; it geared towards the United States as “paper tiger” – its strength as a nation being largely a “myth.”
“It would be better for him to live with other monkeys at a wild animal park in Africa … and licking bread crumbs thrown by onlookers,” wrote steel worker Kang Hyok at Chollima Steel Complex, author of one of the four essays.

Sober driver arrested for drunk driving after deputy runs stop sign and crashes into her car

Ms. Weyker’s injuries were too severe for officers to issue a field sobriety test and even get a breath sample. However, Weyker was arrested anyway on five charges including, “drunk driving causing injury.” Tests would later prove Weyker’s innocence finding no trace of alcohol or drugs in her system.

So why was she arrested? Todd Korb, Weyker’s lawyer, told WITI that the arrest was surprising because the authorities had virtually no evidence she was drunk. Korb said, “I can’t say it is necessarily a cover up, but it is suspicious.” Andrew Mishlove, a drunk driving defense expert, told the station that the only cause to arrest Weyker would have been if Deputy Quiles pointed the finger at her. “I think he was trying to protect himself and his department, to be honest,” said Weyker.

Any officer that falsifies a report -especially to protect themselves or someone else that broke the law- should be fired, blacklisted from any government or public service, then imprisoned for 15-20 years.

Any cop that backs another cop doing this, or harasses someone because a cop was at fault, should share in the penalty.

The badge is not a symbol of power and authority, it is a display of honor and service to others...we need to get rid of people in law enforcement that treat it as the former.
